 I found this hilarious essay by Jim Walker on another site and just had to share it.  Here’s an excerpt.

Why do you suppose that baby animals look so much cuter than human babies? Puppies, kittens, ducklings, and almost any young mammal or bird you can think of, have an irresistible charm to them. Their furry (or feathery) little bodies, large eyes (in proportion to their bodies), makes one just want to pet them and take care of them. People feel good around baby animals. But when it comes to human babies, just the opposite reaction occurs. I find nothing appealing about a newly born human baby. Of course this comes from my male biased perspective and surely mothers have some sort of in-born instinct to love their own spawn (which explains the jokes about ugly children that only a mother could love). But honestly, just look at them. They have bulbous heads, beady little eyes, chubby little bodies, bald heads, bad teeth, and their arms and legs look like something a deformed dwarf would have. Ugly, unappealing, scary even. And they have no morals. If you took an old helpless bald man with no teeth and scaled him quarter size, you’d basically have a baby.

In further support of a biological basis for homosexuality, this report demonstrates a newly-discovered biological connection between having several older brothers and being gay.  The author suggests this as a possible reason:

One possibility is a maternal immune response to succeeding male fetuses. The mother may react to a male fetus as foreign but not to a female fetus because the mother is also female [...] like the maternal immune response that can occur when a mother has Rh-negative blood but her fetus has Rh-positive blood. Without treatment, the mother can develop antibodies that may attack the fetus during future pregnancies.

It seems pretty simple to me.  Males are the gatekeepers to the female reproductive system.  This says to me it is nature’s way of keeping reproduction and genetic perpetuation under control.  If there are too many men carrying the same family genes who want to reproduce, the likelihood of crossing genes that are too closely related to each other increases down the line, and with it the possibility of genetic defects and immunodeficiencies.

Gay men make life better for heterosexual men like me, frankly I’m happy to have them around.  Those of you with nagging wives and girlfriends should seriously look into getting one for her, as they can keep her safely entertained for hours while you watch the game, work on your car, or hang out with the guys. 

I look forward to the day that a genetic basis for homosexuality is proven, so that women (and men, for that matter) will stop thinking that they can turn them around.  There are lots of good hetero men out there ladies, you’re just wasting your time.

Lesbians on the other hand, there’s no doubt in my mind that there is a biological basis for it.  But I don’t think it’s a biological predetermination in the same way it is for gay men.

As much as I welcome the rapid-journalism-environment of blogging, I long for the now-bygone days of editors.  I come across more grammatical, spelling and confusing multiple-rewrite sentence errors now from the big boys of journalism that are downright embarrassing, and make reading these “posts” (rather than articles) a chore of trying to figure out which word the author was trying to use and distracts me from the content of the article.  Here’s a particularly glaring example, from which I trackbacked this post:

Despite being legimately stripped of its poster child status by George, Craigslist is still be paraded around as example of the world that awaits us if something isn’t done and done soon to guarantee neutrality.

I know you guys need to get your articles out as fast as you can these days, but please – either re-read your posts and do a better job of self-editing them, or send them through an editor first!
